A-Check Global's story begins in the entertainment staffing industry. In 1978, CEO Janice Bryant Howroyd founded ACT•1 Personnel with a $1,500 loan and a strong vision for the future based on her uncanny ability to match talent with jobs.
To better provide the most qualified employees and to protect her growing entertainment-industry client base from bad hires, ACT•1 performed background checks, checking references, education history and criminal records history. The seed for what would later become A-Check Global thus began as a value-added background check function offered by ACT•1 Personnel Services.
In 1998, Ms. Howroyd decided demand for background checks warranted establishing a separate company focused on the opportunities enabled by an electronic, information-age based employment screening industry and the hiring risk mitigation needs of HR and corporate security professionals.
She gathered a seasoned team of investigative, employment screening and process management experts and A-Check America, Inc. was born. A-Check America began operations out of a small rented office space in Montclair, California, with just a handful of employees, and then moved to larger leased space in Ontario, California before opening our Global Operations Center in Riverside, California in 2006.
As the market for background screening grew at the turn of the last century, A-Check America began to expand our reach by offering services to employers at a global level. In 2014 A-Check America, Inc. was renamed A-Check Global to better reflect the services that we offer, and our company’s clientele.
Today, A-Check Global is an internationally-recognized and respected employment screening organization under the leadership of CEO and founder Janice Bryant Howroyd.
A-Check Global's drive to provide the best customer service experience, to develop and integrate the most advanced, user-friendly, online interface technology and to deploy high-quality information products has produced a stable, double-digit growth company with more than 3,000 employer clients and over 12,000 system users.
The A-Check Global processing and customer service center operates utilizing a personalized single-point-of-contact client services model, with a 200 employee-strong workforce who serve clients from all major industries.
